Summary

Since the computers in the classroom were outdated, we would like to use the allowance to put five new Apple iMac Computers in the 3rd Grade Math Classroom for the great price of $470 each from newegg.com. At this point, we had spent $2350 dollars and had $3650 left to spend. We decided to include software programs that would enhance the students' math experience along with the computers. Kidspiration, Elementary Advantage 2012, and Clue Finders are all great for inspiring kids that math can be fun and interesting. The three software programs amounted to $466. There was $3184 remaining. Since many of our colleagues and the teachers at this school agree that document cameras enhance lessons and lectures we chose to add that to the list. This Document Camera/Projector will be helpful in teaching our mathematics course. We'll be able to zoom in on textbooks and keep the students interested by providing a better view to the teacher's table or display. We know that Mathematical Reasoning for Elementary School Teachers will provide a solid ground for what we teach. Up to this point our total had been at $904, leaving us with $2280. With this amount left we considered buying an Interactive Whiteboard but thought it would be too expensive. After doing some research we found a great deal on a refurbished
SMART Board, the Interactive Whiteboard 680 with touch-screen and stylus. It can by connected to a computer via USB. All of this is included for the price of $1346 so we reconsidered and found that this was a reasonable price. It will benefit the student's enough to spend that much. We invested $8 into a SMART Board lesson software for word problems. These are definitely great tools to have in the classroom, especially since technology is quickly advancing everyday. We also decided to buy 25 2GB Flash drives for the class in order to save each students individual work. After buying flash drives, we had a total of $724 left to spend. We added an Early Reading Booster for the five classroom computers to help the students with reading comprehension. This brought our total to $5,975 so finally we added one subtraction and one addition bingo game and graphing paper designed especially for Elementary Math. After coming to the grand total of $6000, we are all very grateful for the grant you've allowed us and we hope to put all these resources to their best possible use, helping the third grade children of our school to learn! Thank you for your consideration.
